SABCOHA appoints 2010 FIFA World Cup Consultant Print E-mail
SABCOHA has appointed Kai Crooks-Chissano as its 2010 FIFA World CupTM Consultant. Kai is a strategic communications and content development expert with over 20 years experience working in the international development sector for UN agencies, multilateral, bilateral, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector in a number of African countries. Behavior change communications, HIV prevention, policy, strategy and content development are her forté.

Since 1996, she has worked in Southern Africa as an Adviser for the Joint Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), as a consultant to several other UN agencies (UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA,  UNESCO), the South African Department of Arts and Culture and Department of Justice, as an Associate Director for the US Peace Corps, and for a number of other entities. Kai has written numerous reports and several publications for clients. 

Her most recent work was as the 2009 Series Content Producer for Imagine Afrika, a social reality TV show for young people, which is aired on SABC1 in South Africa and 60 other broadcasters to a prospective audience of 200 million across 38 African countries. She also headed research for the show's 2008 series and served as a member of the evaluation panel.  Kai developed the content format and wrote materials specifically around the series' themes and established partnerships in countries where the episodes were filmed. She also prepared the SABCOHA situational analysis on social marketing opportunities before, during and after the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

Kai Crooks-Chissano holds a Masters degree in Health Education and Behavioral Sciences from Columbia University in New York City, USA, and a Bachelors degree in Media Communications from Hunter College, CUNY. She has extensive experience designing, implementing and evaluating development programmes, developing tools and methodologies, media campaigns, conducting focused facilitation, strategic planning and moving an agenda.
