It is with great pleasure that I am able to invite you to the 2nd Private Sector Conference on HIV/AIDS to be held on 5-6 November 2008 at Emperors Palace, Gauteng, South Africa.
South Africa has achieved some historical milestones since the inaugural Private Sector Conference held in April 2006, including the publication of the National Strategic Plan for HIV&AIDS and STI’s 2007‐2011 and the restructuring of the South African National Aids Council (SANAC). With a clear strategy, incorporating timeframes and goals, the NSP requires the private sector to be more focused in its response, and indeed this will be the main objective of the conference. Within the broad themes of Prevention, Treatment, Care and Support, Legal and Human Rights, Monitoring and Evaluation, we are seeking to address topical issues amongst those who are involved in the fight against HIV/Aids and TB, both within the private sector, and those who are outside of it. In addition to this, we hope to have greater unity within the private sector as we move into the next phase of the fight against the HIV epidemic. Ultimately it is up to you, the conference delegate, to make the conference a resounding success. So let me invite you once more to come and engage, dialogue and learn, leaving with a renewed spirit to continue with energy and enthusiasm.
