The U.K. Department for International Development (DFID) and SABCOHA would like to appoint a suitable consultant to conduct an organisational assessment and operational planning process in relation to its strategy developed in 2006.

Three new governors, Professor Wiseman Nkuhlu, from Metropolitan Holdings, Professor Johan Augustyn from University of Stellenbosch: Africa Centre for HIV/AIDS Management and Teresa McNeill, of Calibre Clinical Consultants, were elected at the SABCOHA annual general meeting, held on 30 October 2008.

The second SABCOHA Private Sector conference began yesterday with a call for renewed action from  business by Business Unity South Africa (BUSA), SABCOHA and Metropolitan at the Work the Future Road Show, which was presented to delegates in the opening session.

SABCOHA members have been urged to participate in a World AIDS Day Campaign that aims to have one million people tested for HIV before 1 December.

SABCOHA members have been asked by Brad Mears, the CEO of the coalition, and Linzi Smith, the chairperson of the SAATCA SANS 16001 scheme committee, to comment on the criteria for SANS 16001 auditor.

AIDS 2008, with the theme Universal Action Now, injected a new sense of urgency and inspiration in putting our best efforts forward in fighting HIV/AIDS. It was attended by more than 22 000 delegates, including scientists, fieldworkers and HIV/AIDS workplace programme managers from around the world.

THE Prestige site in Pretoria has been awarded the Project Promote floating trophy for 2008, after distributing over 150 000 condoms a month over the past year.

Denise Hunt from the AIDS Consortium (AC) spoke at the SABCOHA community involvement breakfast about the needs of the community and how business could support it more actively within the government's policy framework. Dr Tracey Peterson from De Beers and Jenni Gillies from SAB Ltd also presented case studies.
