Competition for SABCOHA members Print E-mail
SABCOHA members have until the end of January to enter the competition aimed at promoting the new HIV & AIDS workplace standard - SANS 16001. Winning applicants will receive a free place on either the implementer's course or the auditor's course.

Because the implementation of standards is voluntary companies that are not committed to implementing best practice or that do not have the infrastructure to implement the standard would not begin the process.

There are two prizes on offer:

  • A place on the three-day training course: The Implementation of SANS 16001 in the workplace.
  • A place on the five-day SANS 16001 auditor course.

The “Implementation of SANS 16001” competition is aimed at organisations that wish to implement SANS 16001 and align their HIV workplace programme to SANS 16001. The person attending the course will be the senior management appointee (according to clause 4.4.2 of the Standard).

Course modules:

  • SANS16001 – requirements for an HIV & AIDS management system;
  • SANS 16001 QMS file - setting up the internal audit, setting up the external audit.

The SANS 16001 auditor training competition is aimed at HIV & AIDS service providers (consultants) who wish to audit their clients against SANS 16001.

Course modules:

  • Introduction;
  • ISO & SANS - Terminology & Definitions;
  • ISO19011 - Quality & Auditing Management Guidelines;
  • SANS16001 – General requirements for HIV & AIDS management system; Practical on-site audit;
  • Assessment for competency.

Said SABCOHA CEO Brad Mears: "This is part of SABCOHA's effort to engage businesses large and small to implement the Standard to ensure that we're involved in the continuous process of improvement with regard to workplace programmes."

Both courses require the learners to have certain pre-existing HIV & AIDS knowledge.
