SABCOHA, as part of its provincialisation strategy, plans to develop Provincial Strategic Plans in all nine provinces in South Africa as well as recruit nine provincial co-ordinators to implement these plans in the next three to five years. There are two phases to the development and implementation of a provincial branch. The first phase is the establishment of the branch; this takes between 12 and 18 months and is managed from SABCOHA's head office. This is currently achieved by a small team of just two people but this team will be growing within the next six months in order to achieve these objectives. The second phase is the ongoing implementation of the plan for which the co-ordinator is needed. This co-ordinator is hired from within the relevant province inside of 6 months of the establishment of the branch and will manage the provincial SABCOHA office. This strategy is the key vehicle with which to increase company support in both the business sector and wider community for workplace and project interventions. The projects managed by SABCOHA such as Project Promote, BizAids and Supply Chain Development, will be offered within the provincial branches along with new projects and interventions developed by the co-ordinator with assistance and guidance from head office and the appointed board of governors. These interventions will be streamlined to both the National and Provincial Strategic Plans and will include representation on multisectoral AIDS councils. Updates from the active branches will be found on the relevant provincial pages of this website as well as through updates sent to members of our provincial databases. We would appeal to all companies to send through their details to be included on the databases within the provinces where there are operations. During the next 18 - 24 months we hope to have six active provincial branches. The Northern Cape branch has gone into implementation and the Western Cape will look to employ a provincial co-ordinator in the middle of this year. SABCOHA aims to have the branches in the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Free State and Mpumalanga established by end 2011 with all co-ordinators employed by mid-2012.
