Jonathan Oppenheimer is MD of De Beers Consolidated Mines. He is also director of De Beers Investments, the holding company of the De Beers group of companies. Oppenheimer is also the non-executive chairman of the Element Six group of companies. In 2002 he was appointed as a director of De Beers Consolidated Mines Limited. That same year he was elected to the World Economic Forum’s Global Leaders for Tomorrow. Oppenheimer, who studied philosophy, politics and economics at Christ Church, Oxford, is the great-grandson of Sir Ernest Oppenheimer, the first of the family to head up De Beers in 1929, grandson of mining magnate Harry and son of De Beers chairman Nicky Oppenheimer. He is married with three children.
