Dr Riedawaan Pillay - BHP Billiton Print E-mail
Dr Riedawaan Pillay is the vice-president HSEC in the manganese division at BHP Billiton. His responsibilities include developing processes and systems to continually improve HSEC performance.

Born in Durban, in KwaZulu-Natal, he qualified as a medical doctor in 1984 from the University of Natal, and obtained a diploma in anaethesiology from the SA College in 1988, and in occupational health from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1999.

He was the occupational medicine practitioner at Eskom Koeberg Nuclear Power Station in 2000, moving to HSE management at the plant.

Pillay joined BHP Billiton as a risk manager at one of its sites in Meyerton in 2005, and moved to head office as vice-president HSEC in 2008.
