Desiree Daniels is the executive manager of Metropolitan’s AIDS Unit. Metropolitan is a financial service provider operating in Africa. Through her involvement in strategy and programme development she has gained considerable experience and insight on HIV/AIDS and its impact on different sectors. She has focused on marketing and communications.

Daniels played a leading role in the HIV and AIDS Scenarios for South Africa in 2025, a project aiming to inspire leaders across all sectors to integrate, align and intensify efforts to mitigate the effects of the disease. Daniels became involved in the HIV/AIDS field in 1993 when she began managing a nationwide community programme. Before joining Metropolitan she headed up the AIDS unit at Old Mutual where she was involved in developing the first financial advice service for people living with HIV. Daniels is a board member of the Media and Training Centre for Health and a founding member of SABCOHA.
